Deputy Director of Epidemiological Research 

Job Overview

As deputy director, you will lead and manage an experienced team of researchers conducting health data research.

Your role will include managerial and professional responsibilities ensuring quality project deliverables, adherence to deadlines lines and budget, with emphasis on excellence and an innovative approach. You will work closely with local and global partners who provide scientific leadership in observational, real-world studies.

The deputy manager oversees dozens of ongoing research projects, while balancing between a commitment to high standards, methodological approaches and considerations related to project scope, and devising a roadmap catered to each study and partner.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, and directing the team’s work: performance reviews and professional development; employee management; employee relations; needs and problem resolution.
  • Reviewing and providing methodological input and guidance in relation to the analysis plan, while considering different analytical approaches and data-driven challenges.
  • Reviewing research protocols, reports and other study documents using independent, critical thinking to ensure quality and completeness of output, overseeing timelines for deliverables associated with study reporting.
  • Ensuring partner engagement throughout the research process; follow up with partners post-delivery to ensure satisfaction and delivery of high-value, high-impact studies.
  • Supporting KSM’s senior executive team in specific research initiatives.
  • Helping to define and provide appropriate levels of professional development and training for staff.
  • Assisting in budget planning for the department.
  • Representing KSM in conferences.
  • Identifying client-related, budget-related or various internal issues that may require attention or improvement.

 

Qualifications

  • PhD in Epidemiology or related discipline (preferred)
  • MPH or Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience leading real world observational studies
  • Experience in team management.
  • Experience in statistical programming.
  • Excellent communication skills; contributes to building a positive work environment.
  • Highly organized and easily adapts to change.
  • Fluent in English.
